Mood Board
I was came across Chairish and decided to create a mood board based on one of its beautiful rugs – here is the result……
I was looking for inspiration for a mood board and I stumbled across Chairish. They have an amazing range of furniture, homewares, and rugs and I new as soon as I say there selection of rugs that I would find my inspiration, the only problem was that I needed to stay focused and not be distracted by all there other pieces….
Flicking through all their rug options, I was immediately drawn to richness of the Turquoise Overdyed Turkish Patchwork Carpet.
This rug is so versatile from a design perspective. It would be suited to a traditional, modern, contemporary, moroccan or even arabian style.
I then started to scan the chairish site to see what other amazing items they held, and apart from thinking ‘damm’ they are in America and I’m in Australia I knew that the style I wanted to create around the rug was definitely ‘traditional with a touch of deco’.
My next step in creating this mood board was to decide on a room….Living room was a natural choice.
I selected a warm colour palette to compliment the rug. There were a number of options that could be considered for a colour scheme – applying the dark grey all over to create a moody sophisticated atmosphere, that is accented by pops of warm white, or a clean and relaxing space that predominately used a warm white that allows the rug to become the hero of the room..
Now that the concept was locked in my head I needed to selected the significant pieces of furniture items for the room – the sofa, sideboard and feature chair. The white lounge has clean tailored lines, the sideboard is deco in style that adds not only warmth and texture but will will become a focal point in the room. The feature chair was selected for its style and rich colour which complimented the rug beautifully. Additional richness is introduced into the scheme through the use of warm metallics found in the pendant light, side table and starburst mirror.
Simply accessories have been selected to enhance the design, two beautiful art works that add pops of colour found in the rug and add to traditional deco vibe; a few quirky cockatoos and simply yet stylish cushion finish off the scheme….
I hope you enjoy this design and find inspiration.
